Update Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 to Android 5.0 Lollipop Custom ROM

When Android 5.0 Lollipop OS was announced it was assumed that this fresh new update will be only released for those flagship devices with good hardware specs. This means that the small end devices with low hardware compatibility will never be able to feel this update. But when it comes to custom ROMs all these assumptions can become true. The developers of third party custom ROMs are always working hard and with some great efforts they always come up with latest flavored Custom ROMs for devices which has least expectations to get the official update. Due to these Custom ROMs it has become so easy to experience those new customized features on any low end device. If your device is an aging one like Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 then it is pretty much sure that the latest Android L update will never be released for your phone. This is due to lack in hardware compatibility of Galaxy Y S5360. In this article we’ll be discussing how to install the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop Custom ROM on your Galaxy Y S5360.

android 5.0 lolipop
This Custom ROM is absolutely bug free and stable. All the parameters are working properly including the camera, wifi and Bluetooth. Note that this ROM is not exactly an Android L Rom but it is an CM7 themed Android 5.0 ROM. Still the features that this ROM has are much noticeable. You can yourself figure out how attractive this ROM is by just looking at the screenshots. The beautiful apps, smart dialing, navigational elements, screen recording, security and system improvements, new gallery, battery saving tweaks, new keyboard, the music app everything is much noticeable. With its great speed this ROM can make your slow and laggy phone a much more usable. Galaxy Y S5360 is currently running on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and it doesn’t seem that Samsung will be bringing any further Android version to this device anytime in near future. The only way to get your device a new life at the moment is the use of a custom ROM. So flash this ROM and enjoy the Lollipop experience on your phone.

This Android 5.0 Lollipop Custom ROM update given below for Galaxy Y S5360 is much risky and a slight change can damage your phone completely. So I recommend to perform everything as it is mentioned without attempting anything by your own. If you are performing this for the first time then I suggest you to stop right at this point. This method is only for those advanced users who have gone through this stuff before. If accidentally any damage happens to your Galaxy Y S5360 then neither I nor the developers of this Android L ROM will be held responsible for that. Although there are least expectations that your phone will get damaged or bricked still I highly recommend you to follow every step correctly and without any mistake. Note that this Android 5.0 Lollipop Custom ROM is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy Y having the model number GT-S5360. Do not flash this on Galaxy Y duos or any other device as it may brick your phone. Make sure that you are having the same phone as mentioned above. You can confirm that from Homescreen–> Menu–>Settings –> About Phone.

Pre-Requisites:
  • Make sure that your device has a good battery life. Charge it at least upto 60% so as to lower the chances of interruption during the flashing process. You may use this Battery Notifier App for the same.
  • Backup your entire phone data and settings including contacts, messages, call logs, memos etc. Copy the same on your external memory card or PC for more safety. This is most important as in the last step of this flashing process you need to clear all the data and cache from your phones internal memory.  You may use this Super Backup app for the same.
  • A very sensitive folder called EFS is present in your system directory which must be backed up before flashing any ROM. This is highly recommended as this folder contains all your phones specific information such as the IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses, product code, and much more. If you flash a ROM without backing up this folder then there is always a risk that this EFS folder might get corrupted. If so happened, your device will be completely useless & will no longer be recognized by your carrier.
  • Install mobile specific drivers on your PC so as to recognize your phone when connected via USB cable. You can install them by installing Samsung Kies or manually install them from the link given below:
  1. Download Windows 32 bit x86 drivers.
  1. Download Windows 64 bit x64 drivers.
  2. Samsung usb drivers XDA
  • Make sure that your Galaxy Y S5360 is rooted. Also a custom recovery like clockworkmod (CWM) must be installed before proceeding further. Follow the guide given below to do so:

After doing everything as mentioned above lets proceed to the actual Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM installation process.
